Born in 1977, the daughter of leading Balgo artists Helicopter Tjungurrayi and Lucy Yukenbarri, Christine Yukenbarri has become one of Australia’s leading young artists. Christine learned to paint by watching and assisting her mother,  and thus works in the kinti-kinti style of dotting that was pioneered by her mother. Christine’s paintings depict her mother’s country, Winpurpurla, and its ‘living water’ that she depicts as the central circle in her paintings.

Christine belongs to the Kukutja language group of  Country Balgo.
