Born in 1977, the daughter of two of Balgo’s most famous artists (Helicopter Tjungurrayi and Lucy Yukenbarri), Christine Yukenbarri has become one of Australia’s leading young artists. Christine learned to paint by watching and assisting her mother and because of this she works in the kinti-kinti style of dotting that was pioneered by her. Christine’s paintings depict her mother’s country, Winpurpurla, and the ‘living water’ that she depicts as the central circle in her paintings.
