  • ABOUT THE GALLERY

Whitford Fine Art is one of the leading international Art Galleries, specialising in European and British 20th-century painting and sculpture, with an emphasis on Post-War Abstraction and British Pop Art.
Founded in London in 1974 by Adrian Mibus and Louise Whitford, the Gallery offers over five decades of experience in art buying, selling and advising. The Gallery also provides valuation services, curatorial advice and assistance in collection building and display. Whitford Fine Art participates in international art fairs in London, Brussels and Paris and is also a member of SLAD (Society of London Art Dealers), CINOA (International Confederation of Art and Antique Dealers' Associations), SNA (Syndicat National des Antiquaires et Negociants)  and ROCAD (Royal Chamber of Art Dealers Belgium).

As of  November 2025, after 50 years of activity in the St. James’s district of London, Whitford Fine Art is relocating to Brussels, the capital of the European Union.
Situated in the vibrant Dansaert area of Brussels, a short walk from Pompidou-KANAL, Whitford Fine Art occupies a first-floor apartment in a listed Art Deco building, blending historical charm with contemporary energy.  Originally the premises served as depot, office spaces, and lodgings for Gérard Koninckx Frères, wholesale importers of bananas and oranges. The cornice at the top of this iconic building bears witness to its original purpose. The polychrome ceramics making up banana and orange trees patterns were designed by the Parisian ceramicist Maurice Dhomme and are still a joy to behold.

For 50 years, Whitford Fine Art has presented an extensive exhibition programme, covering the movements of Belle Époque, Orientalism, Pre-Raphaelites, Symbolism, Vienna Secession, Expressionism, Cubism, École de Paris, Modern British Art and Pop Art. Whitford Fine Art is known for its large collection and is a regular lender to museum exhibitions in the UK and abroad. The Gallery also manages the estates of Mildred Bendall (1891-1977) , Caziel (1906-1988), Joseph Lacasse (1894-1975), Georges Bernède (1926-2023) and Reinhold Koehler (1919-1970). Whitford also represents the artists Clive Barker  (b. 1940) and Frank Avray Wilson (1914-2009).
In Brussels Whitford Fine Art will, in addition to its programme of European and British Abstraction, show works from its large collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art.
