Caziel had arrived at Abstraction in 1951, and had shown at the Salon de Mai alongside Vasarely, Manessier and Hartung. His Abstraction developped spontaneously from his 1940s investment in Cubism....
Caziel had arrived at Abstraction in 1951, and had shown at the Salon de Mai alongside Vasarely, Manessier and Hartung. His Abstraction developped spontaneously from his 1940s investment in Cubism. Once he hit full Asbtraction n in 1951 there was no turning back, despite the protestations of his friend Picasso and Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler.
Caziel would strive to paint works which bring about a sponteneous rush of emotion and the untageable feeling of the senses. Not unlike an alchemist, Caziel combined colours and shapes in exaclty the desired amounts in order to evoke a confrontation with the essence of being; his works do not defy description, but should ideally be used to bring one in a transcendental state.
