During 1945-1947, celebrated fabric designer Zika Ascher collaborated with numerous artists on his Artist Squares' Collection. Ascher gave his artists an open brief, in order not to restrict their creativity to the confines of the technical problems of printing on textile. Thus Landscape Sculpture displays Hepworth's intuitive understanding of concepts of positive and negative space and proportion, ideas that were central to her sculptural language.
