Erró is an Icelandic Pop artist whose work has encompassed paintings, drawings, collage, printmaking, sculpture and film. His search for inspiration led him to travel the world spending time in Europe, North and South America, the Soviet Union and the Far East.
His early works comprise a late surrealist style hinting at the cosmic entities of Roberto Matta but later his interpretation of postmodern life combined with comic book aesthetics place his work shoulder-to-shoulder with artists like Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and James Rosenquist.Throughout the years his commentary on contemporary life has been consistent and has cemented his reputation. He has exhibited in major galleries all over the world including the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume, Paris and the Hong-Kong Arts Centre. In 2000 Erró was elected to receive the Honorary Artists Stipend by the Icelandic Parliament and in the summer of 2001 a museum was inaugurated in Reykjavik.

The 'Military Series 'of 1967 and the 'American Interiors series' of 1968 denounce the American hysteria during the Vietnam War and Cold War. Frequently re-appropriating art historical images, he paid tribute to old masters at the same time as he was affirming a new figurative and political art.
