By the late 1950s Arman had moved away from traditional painting and sculpture in favour of the object and specifically of the ready-made. The objects used by Arman were extremely diverse, but they were always familiar objects collected in considerable quantities. Amongst these, he favoured musical instruments, in particular the violin. His works are Pop in outlook and Deconstructivist in spirit. His work can be found in many collections: Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam
