In 1959, Bogart moved from Paris to Brussels. Bogart commented on his move to Brussels as a decisive break with monochrome and dark colours. His stays in Rome during 1959-1961 brought ochres into his work, and 'Semblant' carries the hallmarks of this pivotal period of change in Bogart's style. Still today, Bogart's work is not fully understood in all its different styles and nuances. During his long career, Bogart was able to successfully reinvent his painting several times and the efforts of this pioneer of matter painting continue to astonish us today, decades later.

The work of Bram Bogart is present in the following museum collections: Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam; S.M.A.K, Ghent; Musée du Louvre, Paris; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Tate Modern, London; Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney; National Gallery of Victoria, Australia; Guggenheim, New York.
