Born in Poland, Caziel spent the major years of his artistic development in France. His painting developed through a synthesis of many diverse elements into an individual form of 'cubist' abstraction during the late 1940's.During the 1950's his painting evolved into lyrical abstraction, an evolution illustrated in Composition #35, which ultimately led him to painting rigorous geometrical patterns in the fashion of 'De Stijl'. Caziel exhibited in Paris at the Galerie Allard (1947), the Galerie Bernheim Jeune (1948) and at the Salon de Mai (1948-1956). In London his work was shown by Grabowski Gallery (1966 and 1968). A major retrospective of his work was hosted by the National Museum in Warsaw in 1998. For the last twenty years of his life, Caziel lived and worked in Somerset.
