HÜBER, KARL (German, 1872-1952) As well as an accomplished ceramics and textile designer, Hüber was a skilful sculptor. He studied applied arts at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich, at the turn of the century, during the height of Art Nouveau fashion. This style would continue to inspire him and later caused him to never really warm to the geometric element of Art Deco.
From 1908 onwards Hüber was teaching applied arts at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Offenbach and designed for the Grossherzogliche Keramische Manufaktur in Darmstadt. In 1933 he settled again in Munich.
