Allen Jones, RA (British b. 1937)
Allen Jones's work is generally regarded as the embodiment of British Pop. The fundamental concerns of the artist are the human figure and the fusion of representational form. His attitudes and style remain self-consciously detached as Jones mixes different visual language systems within a single painting, playing on the disparity between the illusion of the image and its substance as paint. It is this marriage of styles which links Jones to other British artist associated with Pop.
