Mark Visione (Australian b.1959)

In artist's work, his main interest has been to investigate man's desire to make images on surfaces, how those surfaces have been changed by the effects of nature and time, and fundamentally to try to describe in visual terms the new emotions and spirituality that the change image possesses.

The series of works made in the 1990s developed out of an interest in the emotional and spiritual meaning that grows in a work of art as it is affected by time. The subject matter reflects a basic interest in primitive art, also pointing to a growing inspiration derived from Greek red-figure vase painting. This interest has been further persued in the Sappho series.

His work was shown at the Barbican Centre in 1991, Whitford Fine Art has held two exhibitions in 1995 and 1997 also he has had a numerous exhibitions throughout the Europe and Australia.
