Derek Boshier (British b.1937)

Derek Boshier was one of the 1962 graduates of the College of Art, who established Pop Art as a movement. Together with his fellow students David Hockney, Allen Jones, Peter Phillips and Kitaj, he participated in the landmark 1962 Young Contemporaries exhibition that brought Pop Art to the attention of the wider public. Boshier contributed to British Pop Art a strong satirical edge which distinguished his work from his contemporaries. Over the years, Boshier's art has gone through various phases, touching on Pop Art, hard-edge Abstraction, Op Art, and politically radical conceptual art.
