By the time Survage had moved to Paris in 1908 he had met Malevitch, Larinov and Archipenko. His Paris years saw him introduced to Picasso, Braque, Modigliani and Marcoussis. He was regarded as a fellow constructivist and was invited to exhibit with Mondrian and Van Doesberg howerver he regarded himself as more of a Cubist and so exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants. He reintroduced colour to Cubism and made townscapes his subject instead of the traditional still life.
