Arman (French/American 1928-2005)
Arman studied in Paris at the École de Louvre and École Nationale des Art Decoratifs where he discovered the work of Kurt Schwiller, leading him to reject the lyrical abstraction of his day. By the late 1950's he had moved away from traditional painting and sculpture in favour of the ready-made object, often explored through cross-section and enhanced by repetition.
