Arthur Aeschbacher (Swiss b.1923)

Together with Rotela and de la Villéglé, Aeschbacher was a major representative of the 'papiers déchirés' practice of the French abstract movement during the 1950s. The creative disintegration of paper involves careful reconstruction through a thoughtful choice of which papers to use for a composition. The pureness of expression of this technique lies in its translation of an imaginary world close to the heart of the artist.
