Jesse Watkins (British 1899-1980)

Watkins was a sculptor working on the periphery of the New Generation Sculpture movement of the 1960's. Having been awarded a silver medal by the Royal British Society of Sculptors in 1968, his work was sold through the Drian Galleries. Watkins had a number of one-man-shows mainly in the UK and received a number of public comissions from The Royal Free Hospital, and the School of Medicine, London amongst others. His work is also included in the collection of The City Art Gallery, Manchester and a retrospective exhibition was held at Calouste Gulbenkian Art Gallery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1970.
